"Seventh Grade" was quite stereotypical. This story reminds me of what I see on T.V. At my middle school, we are way more protected than a lot of other schools, which makes these kinds of stories hard to believe. It was sad that old friends were broken up so easily because of "seventh grade," but that doesn' always happen.
This story is a little like Bless Me, Ultima in the sense that as she grows older she experiences more (the fight) and loses her innocence.

I read about the story Seventh Grade. This made me feel how someone would hurt another person because of peer pressure and how it can hurt a person a lot. A person will do anything just to become popular. These people will do anything just to keep with their friends. I think these people are wrong and they should do what is right not what is popular.

The story was a bit confusing at first because it didnt tell much about the main characters and their past. And I think the story is pretty much true because African Americans use to be discriminated and during that age most teenager's minds grow more rapidly.

Yeah I agree with the ones posted by Ms.Thomas for another student. I had a hard time getting along with the story in the first place cause they didnt mention the characters right away by describing them.

But I still understood the end a little bit. I would rate this story about a 5 or 6 out of 10 because it wasnt very "attracting" to me. Haha.

The story was pretty confusing at first for me also. I had to read it twice before I understood most of it. Everyone seemed to change as soon as seventh grade started. The compareason between African American and the American PArt was true, but the author used very good description to fit it in.

Yeah, maybe other friends of Bonna's didn't want her to hang out with a white kid because they are black. In the middle I didn't know why the main character starts shouting out the past when they were friends, maybe to let her remember and be friends again?

This piece shows how changing schools means that if you go up a grade
into higher level schools, all the people you used to know will start
hanging out with a new crowd and you won't be a part of their
friendships anymore.

For those who are wondering why it felt like they were "dropped into" this story without enough background on the characters, it is actually a single chapter of a longer story ("The Good Times are Killing Me") and not a short story.
