PERSUASIVE LETTER

Dear Mom and Dad,

I-pods are the greatest portable CD players. Everyone I know has

one. Mini I-pods regular I-pods you name it they have it all. Now I know were not

followers but leaders in this family we do not do everything everyone else does.

For example you jump off a bridge does not mean I jump off a bridge. You have

been telling me for the longest time that if I really wanted something that I should

work for it. And I agree but what if I wanted this I-pod really bad. I would need a

job and well I do not know many jobs that allow twelve year old girls to work for

them. What will I do then? How will I get the money? Save my money for five

more years? That is way to long. What if I work around the house would you let

me?

I know that we are not followers but leaders in this family and I respect

that. But a lot of people have I-pods and I’ve really want one. Now yes a CD

player is less expensive but I do listen to a verity of music as you already know.

You might say “maybe you’ll get it for your birthday” or “Well maybe your father

and I have to think about this” and five months later end up forgetting or just right
off the bat say no.

I understand your concerns but Here’s why we are soon leaving for Cancun

and if I’m correct it takes the same amount of time to go to Hawaii. That’s about

five hours! They don’t show the movies until three hours into the flight. What do I

do while waiting for the movie to come on? Color, read magazines, sleep, argue

with Elijah and I know you don’t want that. So why not get me an I-pod dad has

one and well he’s like me a music fanatic just like me. So, instead of bugging dad

every two minutes why not get me an I pod now so you don’t have to listen to me

the whole trip to Cancun. Don’t forget that I will work for it.

What if I work for it? It would be a good learning experience. If I remember

correctly dad is always saying he used to work at my age. If dad worked for stuff

at my age why shouldn’t I?

I-pods are very popular for teens and adults. I understand that you would

be worried about me losing it but trust me if I work for it I will appreciate this I-pod

a lot more. So can I please work for this I-pod that I really want?

And explain why you don't want alternatives like Creative Zen, iRiver, Sony, or whatever. Explain why not an iPod shuffle since parents usually go for the most basic ones. Describe which model iPod mini you want. 4GB (1,000 songs) or 6 GB (1,500 songs)? Why not upgrade to an iPod with color display for an additional $50 to $299?

Dear Mom and Dad,

“We are not followers but leaders” I have herd you guys say that ever since I

was ten. I have been trying to be more mature. Not being a brat and giving my

brother and sister an example on how to behave. I have taught them the

importance on surprising and showing how much we love our parents from giving

you guys a surprise on your anniversary which we clearly surprised you guys big

time! I have gotten better at understanding the meaning of life how lucky I am to

have such wonderful parents and appreciate everything I have. I want to be a

leader for my younger siblings by starting to work for things that I want. You have

been telling me that if I really wanted something that I should work for it like clean

the bedrooms/ bathrooms do the dishes wash the cars ect. I agree, I should

work for things that I want. Dad has been working since he was my age and I

think its time for me to start working around the house for the things I want. That

is why I am asking you can I please have a i Pod mini 6 GB I’ll work for it and buy

the accessories myself.

I know that we are leaving for vacation in two week’s and my b-day will be two

months after that, why not wait or work for a CD player its cheaper and they have

mp3 players on them now. You probably would say that I should wait maybe i’ll

get one for my birthday or that you and daddy have to think about it. It’s

expensive and your not ready to spend that kind of money yet and you would be

worried that I might lose it.

I have been helping out at church with the kids and have been working

hard on the work I’m getting in my classes at summer school. I most importantly

have taken care of Leilah when we went to visit our grandparents and when she

cry’s at night even though I don’t want to.

I understand your concerns but here is why I should get an i Pod mini. It can be

Your early b-day present to me but also I have been working with a two year old

sister and a five year old brother all summer. There’s nothing wrong with that I

love the two munchkins to death but there is a time when their older sister needs

a brake. I haven’t hung out with my friends or have talked on the phone till two

o’clock in the morning. I have been going to and from summer school and soccer

practice. I Have also been trying not to argue with my brother which is getting

easier each day. I have also helped clean up the house, did the laundry, wash

dishes, clean rooms/bathrooms, windows, and the cars. I deserve something for

all that hard work don’t I?


We are not followers but leaders and its time that I step up and be one .I

understand that you would be worried about me losing it but trust me if I work for

it I will appreciate this i Pod a lot more. So can I please work for this i Pod mini 6

GB (which Is only $199 at the apple store) that I really want?
