How to log into the FTP:

We recommend using AbsoluteFTP to upload your materials. Click on the "Start" Menu > All Programs > Networking > AbsoluteFTP. Click the top-left icon to "Quick Connect".

Host/IP: atdplogs.berkeley.edu
Username: Last name
Password: First initial + last initial + birthdate (mmddyy)

Ex, if your name is James Bond, and your birthday is 05/16/85, your login information will be:
Username: bond
Password: jb051685

However, as there were several students with the same last name, the following students will use their first name as a login instead:

  • Jamie Lin

  • Jonathan Lin

  • David Lin

  • Gregory Liu

  • April Yang

  • Allison Wong

To FTP from home:

Ideally, you should download an FTP client at home to use. There are many free ones:

Mac: Fetch, Interarchy, Transmit, Cyberduck
Windows: AbsoluteFTP, SmartFTP, AceFTP, WS_FTP, anything else on download.com for FTP

Alternatively, if you are on a Windows machine, you can use the File Explorer to FTP. Open any file window (like My Computer or My Documents) and type the following into the address bar:

ftp://(your-username)@atdplogs.berkeley.edu

You'll be prompted for a password and then you'll be able to see your files in the regular Windows style.

... Wow. Uh. Stupid people use one and arrogant people use the other? Oh, no, wait.

Basically a Mac is running a version of OS X, while PCs are supposedly running a version of Windows. So if you're running Windows, use the PC links.

[edit] WTH Alex. Don't make me revoke your manager status.

Better to call it "Windows" instead of "PC," then? "Personal computer" could refer to a Mac too, after all.

Quote from (not a real quote) kass:

Stupid people use one and awesome people use the other?

Can't argue with that :)

Whoever said "life is not a rose garden" got problems. Life IS a rose garden. There are the roses, then there are the thorns. :D

Yeah, Transmit isn't free, but the seamless live editing alone is almost worth the 30 bucks. And overall, it's arguably the best FTP client available for Mac :)

P.S. I used to hate shareware too, but then I realized that with a lot of these apps, you do get something extra that you wouldn't in a freeware equivalent. Whether that something is valuable to you is another matter ;)
