...for lunch :D

HOKAY PEEPS. This was long in coming, so here's the deal. On either Wednesday or Friday, your TA Siu-Yuan and I are going down to Ciao Bella on Shattuck during the lunch hour. Anyone is welcome to come, and since it is a rather lengthy walk this will most likely be a special one-time trip. All for the sake of wonderful Gelato. Ice cream. Trev's worst nightmare (once it's taken effect).

OUR RECOMMENDATIONS. Do NOT be like Trev and walk 10 minutes to a fancy ice cream place and order VANILLA. Kudos to Kyle, he got a pint of freshmint last time we went.

Siu-Yuan: Freshmint, Hazelnut, Ginger
Raid: Rose Petal, Japanese Summer Tea
Joint vote: AKJSFHKLS TRIPLE ESPRESSSOOOOOOOO :D (be VERY afraid, Trev)

Like I said, it is a rather fancy place. You only need a maximum of 5 dollars for 2 scoops (what we usually go with, anyways) but if you plan on buying anything more, like a pint, you may want to bring $10 or $15 to be on the safe side. Consult Siu-Yuan for more information.\

Bring more if you also plan on buying lunch there. There are several places you can visit...one of them is a very elegant chocolate stand, but it's so freaking expensive that I'd recommend a quick peek and scram. They closed down one of my favorite stands and replaced it with a Mexican food stand. I don't know what they have, but you can take a gamble and go there.

There's also a soup place...it's a nice place, their food is usually quite well made. It's where I go anyways. About $5-7 dollars.

The last stand I know of sells sushi. Ridiculously expensive, but very nice quality fish and rice (as far as I know >__>). Prices jump from $6-12, and the food comes in very elegant boxes that you can keep and take home.

YES THIS POST IS ALMOST DONE. However, during the lunch hour, only one student has been coming with us regularly....and that's Jamie, you can be sure she's getting an A+ this time around. I'm hoping that since this is a one-time trip, more of you guys will join up and show Trev what you can do when you're running on a lunch of ice cream.

:]

Screw that, bring at least $6 or $7 if you're getting ice cream. Just to be safe. The $4-ish one is apparently a rip-off, but you can still get that if you want.

Excellent question ;) The place we're going to has very exotic and unusual flavors - for example, ginger, rose petal, and Japanese summer tea. There are several others that you can see when we arrive, but I can't tell you for sure because they swap some flavors in and others out. There's also a section of the freezer for sorbets (sherbet? is there a difference?). The one we SERIOUSLY recommend is Triple Espresso - literally coffee bean ice cream :D Hopefully they'll have it out, or we can call ahead.

Oh and you must wall walk by the fairy tale castle and see if the witch looks out. If she does, don't stare as her evil eye is powerful. Then, a couple of blocks uphill from that is a raspberry bush, low to the ground, that should now be heavy with FAT berries to pick and eat. Blow the dust and sundry ant off first, though.

(p.s.: I have a new favorite Ciao Bella flavor... Scharffenberger Chocolate! OMG it's seriously, insanely, good. I like to buy fresh, ripe, plumply purple cherries at the grocery store across the street—right next to Cheeseboard—and eat it with this gelato. It's heaven on earth.)

Last year it was a blackberry bush. o_O Are there both? ::prefers raspberries to blackberries xD::

Andronico's FTW. xD Actually, when we go to Ciao Bella, my family parks there, walks in, walks out, and then goes across the street, hehe...>_>

Oh. Right. My memory is fuzzy... like the surface of a dusty blackberry. It was black, not rasp.

Okay then, looks like it's Friday. :]

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH VANILLA. It's a legitimate flavor.

2007/07/23 10:01:49 PDT by aqhong

Seriously. Especially if it's French vanilla :)
