To kick off the summer session, here is the official "introduce yourself" topic that every person who has anything to do with TIC should be posting in. This includes students, instructors, and all teacher assistants. :)

To break the ice, I suppose I had better go first. :P

My given name is Cynthia, but I'm better known around the ATDP community as Kass, so feel free to call me that. I've been working at ATDP for quite a few summers now, first as a teacher assistant and later as an instructor, and even before that I took several classes as a student. I'm from Castro Valley and I'll be a grad student at the University of Southern California, studying Interactive Media. As one of the two instructors of TIC, I'll be present at both morning and afternoon sessions and you should feel free to pester me about whatever you wish. :)

Heya guys, I'm Siu-Yuan. I was a student of TIC06, and I'm back (D:) this summer as a TA (for PM). Hopefully I won't scare anyone with my face or quirkiness. I'm not really sure if anyone cares what my favorite color(s)/fruit/drink/other food/refrigerator brand is/are, so I won't post it here. :P I just finished my freshman year at Benicia High (go band!), and I'm known around here as s·y, EggPuffs, and ShiftOpt. Er...I like to run sometimes, and play badminton. Oh, and my chosen instruments are piano and flute. Anything else? I'll edit or post again if I think of something. :P

Break from the format! Seize the day! Make your lives extraoooordinary! :O

Ahem. Hello, everyone. My name is Alex, but you can call me Lx (pronounced "Lex") if you'd like. You save a syllable when saying it, and a whopping two letters when typing it! Wow! Now that's what I call great savings!

As far as school goes, I just finished up my first year at UC Davis (still undeclared, but planning on declaring Design as soon as I can), after graduating from Mission San Jose High in my hometown of Fremont.

I first attended ATDP in the summer of 2003 (took Introduction to Programming in C), and came back in 2005 for The Virtual ATDP. I then TA'd for The Internet Classroom in 2006 (making me one of the few TIC TAs who never actually took TIC), and I'm back again this year as an "Instructional Associate." Basically, I'm like a TA, except I will be rollin' around, spyin' on all ur werkz, since I don't have a group of my own to take care of. Look sharp!

Some other random facts about me: I barely play video games, unlike pretty much everyone else you will meet here. I am slightly red-green colorblind, although I'm at a loss to explain how it affects me beyond not being able to see a number in a random array of colored dots. I am also a fairly quiet/reserved/awkward person, even with people I know well and am actually comfortable around, so please don't be offended if I appear standoffish at times. I am, however, much less so online, as others can probably attest to. Go figure.

Honestly, I don't really know why I made another one of these threads... so few students end up checking the website after Orientation and then we have to make another "official" thread on the first day anyway. Oh well.

Uhmm... Let's see... Like Kass, I started off as a student at ATDP, then a TA, and now an instructor. I graduated from Lowell High School in San Francisco four years ago and have been teaching web design, yearbook and newspaper at Synergy School since then. I've also worked at a cellphone content developer and some other random places. I'll be going back to school and majoring in Biology in a year.
