Well, we don't know which day yet, but Raid and I *huggle* are going to Ciao Bella after the AM session. It's a really really good gelato place that's really really good! Did I mention that it's really really good? Good. Anyway, we're pretty sure we can get there and back in way under an hour, and it's in this place with other foods too, so you can have an actual lunch there. ^_^ Plus, it's in a very nice tea garden. We'll test the walking time on Monday and we'll let you guys know. But tell us if you're even interested. Okay?

Sounds like fun. Where exactly is it, could you describe in what general direction? (i'll cry if it's the former BEARcade... but the stuff you're describing around it doesn't sound like it.)

For the record, Monday is the SC tournament anyway. But no one has planned anything for Wed or Fri as far as I know. (though Trev and I always have staff meetings on Fri's.)

I just found out about the BEARcade...and yea it is a sad thing they got rid of it....why...why...atleast after summer lol..oh well...ice cream sounds kinda good lol

Bring your own money though =P. If you're having lunch there, I'd say 10-15 dollars is fine, but bring more if you plan to feast your heart out on ice cream. They have a gelato stand, a chocolate stand (REALLY fancy chocolate, I don't recommend spending your money there), pizza, sushi, and soup. Am I forgetting anything, P?

Kay, peeps. We're having issues with mapquest, so we've ended up with two diff. locations. The one we know is like, half a mile from Tolman, and the one that Mapquest gave us is close, but we don't know if it actually exists. .______.;; So, we'll check it on Monday, and if it doesn't exist, than do you guys wanna walk? ^_^

Okay, from Tolman to the place we KNOW exists:
Go down to Shattuck, and turn right, go for about 5 1/2 blocks. You guys feel like walking that far if the other place doesn't exist?

Oh. That place is right in the heart of the Gourmet Ghetto in North Berkeley... a new (and expensive) place to eat, called Epicurious Garden. 'Boutique gourmet,' as I'd call it. ;p You children have expensive tastes (or rich parents? ::chuckle::).

It's right across from the Cheeseboard, and next door to world-famous Chez Panisse. On Shattuck, between Cedar and Vine. It's about a 15-minute walk from Tolman, and there're more picturesque ways to get there other than down Hearst and right on Shattuck.

Well... what do the physicists say these days? That a curved line is actually shorter than a straight one? Or something like that? ::chuckle:: (Ask Spark.)

The route I have in mind is probably perceptually shorter, since you'd be distracted with some interesting sights... like a fairytale tower where goblins and hobbits reside, as well as an insecure witch (you might see her stealing glances out the window, through her moldy curtains). Along the way, too, is a very healthy hedge of blackberries. They're ripening now, and you should be able to pluck a handful of fat ones.

Now isn't that more interesting than just a trudge straight down Hearst and straight through Shattuck? ;-)

Posting AGAIN.
We've decided to have our little adventure on Wednesday the 19th during lunch break. It'll take about 10 minutes to get there. Like Lloyd pointed out, tis a tad pricey. Bring about 10-15 bucks like Raid said if you wish to have lunch AND gelato. Gelato by itself is not 10 bucks, I assure you. Meet in TMF I guess.
