That was a stunning lapse on Zidane's part. One would have thought that, being the oldest player onfield he'd have the wisdom and experience to avoid that incomprehensible ejection.

lol i was in a student union building on the stanford campus when i saw the game (i started watching round the 60th minute). the entire place cracked up when we saw the whole zidane thing! that was awesome!

Trev was looking grimly confident, when PKs arrived. He had complete faith in Gianluigi Buffon to repel the Frogs' sallies. ::chuckle:: I swear, that keeper has soccerball magnets for gloves. The save of the Cup came late in the game when Zizou hit a sharp header that by all rights should have met net. Instead, it found Buffon's hand, causing it to sail juuuust above the crossbar.
And I could hear the groans from the Champs Elysees all the way in North Beach, SF. ;-)
(Perhaps Zidane was so frustrated by the miss he allowed Materazzi to goad him into the headbutt... though on the NYTimes game blog, the writer says that prior to the incident, Materazzi reached around and pinched Zidane's nipple !!!!! O_o You'd butt someone in the ass too, if they pinched your nipple. ;p )

Man....What happened to Zidane was horrible...a terrible note to end your football career at...i mean the head butt was awesome and all but being the guy with the most experience AND being the captain..he should've maintained he's cool...for crying out loud...he supposed to be the one calming others down...i wanna head butt that MArzetti right now too..arg!!! man...and Trev was right too...he said "Italy's gonna win..Mark My words"...noooooooooooooooooooo this is bad very bad....Thierry Henry...great game...never thought he would play after that collision in the beginning but played an amazing game...too bad they couldn't finish..Great Penalty Shoot out as well...wow i think i said too Much lol
