CSS "About Google" Exercise
Have a look at this picture: aboutgoogle.png. It's a not-exact replica of the page that's located here: http://www.google.com/about.html. I more or less looked at that page and duplicated it with cleaner XHTML code (::cough:: sorry Google), and used plenty of CSS which I moved to an external stylesheet.
In this exercise, I will be giving you the HTML file that I produced to develop that picture there. Your job is to create an external CSS stylesheet to go with that HTML page, altering NOTHING but the CSS template that you will be provided with. You may NOT touch the HTML file.
Don't forget to link to this exercise on your class log. It can just be to the HTML file, though I may create some page with a style switcher later, so we can see how all of your styles work with the same HTML page.
Journal for Today:
Break down your average daily computer use.
About how much of your time is spent doing homework on the computer during the school year? How about e-mail, IM, surfing the web, or computer games? Anything else? How much multitasking do you do? Do you sit down and open up Microsoft Word and do your homework or do you IM, listen to music and e-mail all while perhaps partitioning a little brainpower towards that essay of yours?
By being a member of this website, you are part of an online community. The community in this case is made up of mainly students from one of the two internet classrooms who share information on the forums and chat. Almost all of the members of this community have several things in common; the class they attend, their ages, etc. What other internet communities do you belong to? What common bonds exist between the users in those communities? How is information shared? If you don't belong to any other internet communities, answer hypothetically (make one up and answer the questions).
