Notes on how the Forum/Chatroom works

Pegasus(Kyle, our TA) had forgotten to mention on how the Forum/Chatroom works, so while he is away, I will make bare bones guide to how it all works, and he can correct any errors I have made.

1) There are three separate areas: The Forum, On Topic, and Off topic. I mention this because you may have not noticed that "The Forum" is a separate area.
Then again, you wouldn't be reading this if you didn't notice that -_-
1b) Only threads related to the forum in general (not the class "Philosophy") should be placed in "The Forum".
In most cases, place your topics in either "On Topic" or "Off Topic".

2) After making a post, you will notice two buttons: Reply and Append. Reply makes a quote of the user you replied to. Append, on the other hand, is not as easy to realize. Appending is where you can add text which you had forgotten. The original text is separated from the "Appended" text by dotted lines. NOTE: You cannot delete original text with append, so make sure you check your spelling before pressing "submit"!

3) Making polls are simple, except that the button "Ranked poll (Condorcet)" may confuse you.
The average poll without Condorcet looks like this:
"Question"
Choice1
Choice2
etc.
The Poll with Condorcet looks like this:
"Question"
#Choice1
#Choice2
etc.
The numbers indicate the current ranking of that specific choice. If Choice 2 had six votes, but Choice one only three votes, it would look like this:
"Question"
2 Choice1
1 Choice2
------------------------------------------------(Not Append)---------------------------------------------
I understood how the Chatroom worked as soon as I saw it, but for those who don't, I made this section just for you :)

1) Entering The Chatroom is easy. If you cannot connect, get Java 5.0 by clicking the blue button. If problems still persist, contact Kyle our TA by his email.

2) There are multiple buttons you can find by clicking "Show Options" This is what you will find.
"Show Timeline": This will show when your friend typed their reply. The clock is in 24-hour military time (13:00 = 1:00pm)
"Show away/back messages": This will show when your friend uses the /away or /back command. I assume you know what those commands do.
"Show beep messages": This will show when your friends use the /beep command. Further explanation of the /beep command will come shortly.
"Have beep when...": These buttons are conditions for when you hear a beep on your speaker. You can make it that you hear a beep when someone either speaks, joins the channel, leaves the channel, uses the /away or /back command, or a combination.
"Have beep when..prt2": These are the bottom three buttons you can click on. The first one is "when they type /beep". /beep is a command that can be used to alert your presence or other ways by making your speaker "beep". The second one is "when they type /beep username". This is used to alert a specific person without annoying others with your beeping. The final one is "when someone uses /tell". the /tell command is a whisper, sending text only to that specific person. Ex: /tell Goyen moo.

3) Here is a list of the Chatroom commands.
/away = Notifies people that you are away. Will make a beeping noise to those who have "away" on.
/back = Notifies people that you are back. Will make a beeping noise to those who have "returns" on.
/beep = makes a beeping noise to everyone who has "beep when someone uses /beep" on. (including yourself if you have it on)
/beep username = makes a beeping noise to that person if he has "beep when someone does /beep username" on.
/tell username = sends a messasge to that specific person. Will beep that person if he has "beep when someone does /tell username" on.

I hope this helps! ^.^

I wish to add that by clicking on your username, you can edit your profile, such as adding your real name and address, your bio, your avatar and signature, and changing your typing background!

I want to give special thanks to Dr3w (Andrew A. and 2nd member) for unknowingly letting me notice this.
