Extra Credit Like A Boss
I hope you have as much fun as I did when I revised it. I wan't to dedicate this to my hero Joseph Williams, who has changed my life forever with his books on writting, thankyou.
Success is being able to achieve what you want. In Arthur Miller’s “Death of a Salesman,” Biff Lowman is the only character in the play that turned out to be successful. Biff is the only one who can see the truth and reality of things and accept them. He is also the only one who really chases his dreams. Another reason that Biff is successful is because he knows who he is.
Out of all the characters in the play Biff was the only one who could see the reality of things. Everyone else had a false sense of reality and could not see the truth. Happy kept making things seem better than they actually were and believing that everything was fine with his life when deep down inside this was not true. Willy kept on reminiscing about the past and trying to fulfill his dreams of becoming a great salesmen when that was not what he really loved to do. Biff on the other hand is comfortable with the fact that he is just an average man, something that his father was never able to accept. Biff shows that he accepts the truth when he says, “I am no a leader of men, Willy, and neither are you. You were never anything but a hard-working drummer who landed in the ash can like the rest of them!”
Biff is also the only character in the play that is successful because he chases his real dreams and what he enjoys doing in life. Although Willy chased his dream of becoming a great salesman, his true love was working with his hands in the garden or building something. Biff knew that the life of a salesman was not his own dream, but his father’s dream for him. All Biff really wanted was to be able to work with his hands and enjoy the simple things in life. Towards the end of the story Biff realizes this and stops trying to please his father, something that he was never really able to do, and he pursued his own dreams of working on a ranch. By doing this he also accomplished what his father always wanted, which was being able to work with his hands. Biff shows that he is going to peruse his own dreams when he says, “I saw the things that I love in this world. The work and the food and the time to sit and smoke. And I looked at the pen and said to myself, what the hell am I grabbing this for? Why am I trying to become something I don’t want to be?”
Another reason that Biff is successful is because he is the only one who knows who he is in life. Biff accepts the fact that he is just an average hard-working man, and doesn’t try to be something that he is not. Biff knew that he was happiest when he was on a ranch working with his hands. Biff realized that everything he was doing was out of spite and that was why he was trying to be salesman, but in the end he lets go of all of it and stops trying to fulfill his father’s expectations. Biff tells his father that he knows who he is when he says, “What am I doing in an office, making a contemptuous, begging fool of myself, when all I want is out there, waiting for me the minute I say I know who I am!”

revised one:
Success is being able to achieve what you want.
