Files, Chatroom

"Class Discussion" forum: I've changed this to a media forum, which is a little different from how it was before as a regular forum. You can upload files (Word documents, pictures, etc.) for your peers to download and post comments about. Click the link for more details; be sure to read the instructions. You don't necessarily have to upload files either, so you can continue to use the Class Discussion forum just to post questions.

Chatroom: Use the chatroom for live discussion; this is useful for instantaneous feedback, especially since you can post links to whatever you upload under the Files forum.

Hopefully these two new sections will cover your needs for the next few days' homework. Also, sorry about the Class Discussion forum; after I turned it into a media forum, it deleted all the existing threads. ):

I couldn't log into this site on Firefox on my computer because of a "disabled cookies" error that appeared every time I tried to log in. This is caused by a bad cookie, and can be fixed be deleting it. If you are having this problem, follow these instructions, and you should be able to log in to the site. My browser might not be the exact same as yours, but they should be close enough that you can do these:

1) Exit the site. Make sure you have these instructions in Notepad or a Word Document or something so that you can read them without this page open.
2) Go to Tools > Options > Privacy.
3) Make sure the box for "Accept cookies from sites" is checked.
4) Click the button "Show Cookies."
5) In the Search box, type "berkeley."
6) You should see "virtualatdp.berkeley.edu" come up in the box below. Select it, then click "Remove Cookie." This should fix the problem; however, to be safe, I also deleted any other cookies with the word "berkeley."
7) Go back to the site and try to log in; if it still doesn't work, try following these instructions a few more times. It took me a couple tries to get it to work.

AND IT WAS REALLY GREAT. I WISH I COULD FIND THE WIKIPEDIA ARTICLE.

Anyhow, now that I've visited both classes, we're going to start putting this site to some use! First of all, since it looks like most people are having problems logging into the site or making accounts, the forums will be left as a sort of free-zone for those of you who can log in. If, however, the problem is fixed and we can get everyone logged in, I'll have to implement some more of my administrator powers to keep the forums more organized. But, since this is all theoretical, I won't get into the details.

Second of all, the main function of this site will be the Assignments page, which you can find on the sidebar to the left. Hopefully we can get Mr. G logged in; however, if his Safari and Firefox continue to insist on not liking this site enough to load it, then I'll post the assignments. The only problem with this is that it'll take longer for the assignments to go through me, which means they probably won't be up until the day after the class.

Keep trying to get onto the site, guys! Try different web browsers; Opera and Google Chrome seem to be working well with the site.

Go do your homework. :)
