Kobe Bryant’s Accomplishments

Kobe Bryant has made many accomplishments in his life and many more to come. His most recent accomplishment is scoring 81 points against the Toronto Raptors. His first achievement was going to the NBA. He has won three NBA championships so far in his 10 NBA Seasons. In his first year with the Lakers, he won the dunk contest. Kobe is famous for many things. He was the youngest player to start a game. Kobe has started in each of his 8 all-star games. In the 2002 and 2006 all-star game, Kobe was the Most Valuable Player for leading the west to another win over the east. Kobe had been on the All NBA Team eight times. He was on the Defensive team 6-times.

Kobe has done many things for his community. Kobe formed his own foundation called the Kobe Bryant Foundation. The foundation donates money to groups in the Los Angeles area to help children. Once a year, he hosts a bowling event to raise money for foundations like The Boys Clubs and Girls Clubs. When the Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, Kobe donated money to help the victims.

Kobe is famous for being the third person jumping from high school to the NBA. That led the way to other high school basketball players to skip college and go to the NBA. In his first year he won the dunk contest and scored the most points (31) as a rookie in the rookie game. A few years later he and Shaq started the Lakers dynasty. They won three championships together with the Lakers. His scoring has been one of the most amazing in NBA history. He scored 9 games of 40 plus points in a row. Then he scored 4 games of 45 plus. In the 2006 season, he scored 50 plus points in 4 games straight. This season he scored his second highest points of 65 against the Portland Trailblazers. Only two other players have done that other than Kobe. He set a record of free throws made in Lakers history, 62 made in a row. He then scored 62 points, just in three quarters. Imagine how much he would have scored if he played in the fourth quarter. He outscored the other team, 62-61. His highest and the NBA second highest was 81 points. Kobe has set many records in the NBA and will set many more in his years to come. He did many successful things in basketball to make it the best sport. Kobe Bryant was the youngest player to score 10,000 and 17,000 points.

Since Kobe jumped from high school to the NBA, he didn’t go to college. Even though all the college coaches were looking for him to join their teams, he didn’t join them. However, Kobe went to UCLA (University of California at Los Angeles) and got a degree.

Kobe became one of the best basketball players when he was young. When he was in middle school, many people thought he couldn’t play basketball because he came from Europe. He proved them all wrong and challenged the best player in the school. He dunked on him and won. His high school coach thought Kobe would become good basketball player. He told Kobe to come to Lower Merion High. Kobe put up more than 2,000 shots a day at practice. When he was a junior, he was already playing with NBA players and they were losing to him.

Kobe’s Hard Times

Kobe didn’t face much discrimination in his life except for skipping high school and going to the NBA. When he skipped high school, many people criticized him for being overconfident. They said he won’t be any good in the NBA. He proved them all wrong with his scoring, his championship rings, and his team. When he was in the NBA, many of his teammates said he was a ball hog that couldn’t score. He practiced his shooting and proved them all wrong. He then started passing the ball more and they stopped calling him that. After Shaq was traded away, people started calling Kobe, Dynasty-Destroyer and many bad names. When Shaq was gone, Kobe had to carry the team by himself. He led them to ninth place in the race for the playoffs, but they didn’t make it. They stopped calling him names after he scored 81 points on the Toronto Raptors.

Kobe’s Influencers and Ways for Basketball Players

The people that influenced Kobe the most were his parents, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, and Phil Jackson. His parents taught him not to do drugs and study hard. When he was young, he always watched games with his dad. His dad told him what the next move would be. He watched his dad play and copied his move on his own hoop. Sometimes he went to his dad’s games and played during half-time. He sometimes played against his dad’s teammates and beat them. He played against his dad and he did not win till he was 16. His dad used his elbow and pushed him to get to the basket. Kobe was getting used to it, but sometimes he had a bloody nose from that. Kobe’s favorite basketball player was Magic Johnson. Magic Johnson inspired Kobe to play in the NBA. Michael Jordan was the best in basketball (until Kobe came). Kobe watched his games and learned from him. Many people today say that they see a little of Michael Jordan in Kobe. Phil Jackson was the coach of Michael Jordan while they were winning NBA Championships. Phil Jackson led the Bulls to six NBA championships and many finals. The Lakers hired Phil Jackson to lead them to more championships. Phil Jackson did his magic on Kobe like he did to Michael Jordan.

Kobe led the way for other high school players. Many high school basketball players were doubted because they couldn’t play with the professionals. He taught them that they could be successful and played in the NBA by practicing hard. The basketball star led other high school players like Lebron James and Tracy McGrady. He has made many young players famous. He told them that they could be excellent basketball player if they worked hard and chased perfection.
