Writing for HS

From burning forests to nuking an area, Supreme Commander could be considered the best RTS game, real time strategy,

this year so far. This is a video game like no other through many of its awesome features. You can upgrade many units, the

objects in the game used in combat, many factories, buildings used to create units, and equipment, objects used for many purposes

such as defending, spying, or attacking from long range.

This game would be less interesting if it didn’t have a story behind and fortunate enough, it has a very unique one.

Usually, you’d see RTS games with a few factions with the line split to create the good factions and the evil factions. In this game,

there is no good or evil faction because each of them has goals that could be both considered good and evil. To start off, this game

has three factions which are the UEF, United Earth Federation, the Aeon, and the Cybrans. The United Earth Federation is a faction

that uses advance human technology in combat. They want to destroy both the Aeon and Cybrans so Earth and all the human

colonies on other planets will be safe from the enemy’s wrath. The Aeon was originally consisting of an alien race but humans from

the UEF destroyed all of them. Before this alien race was killed, they taught humans that made peace with them something called

The Way. All humans that believed in The Way joined the Aeon faction and waged war using alien technology against the UEF and

Cybrans in order to spread The Way. The Cybrans are human-like machines that were created by Dr. Beckham, a considered genius.

A loyalty program was installed into every Cybran to control them if they went mad. Dr. Beckham didn’t want to allow this but the

UEF activated the loyalty program. He was angry and uninstalled the loyalty program from his closest followers and escaped to

another planet with them. The Cybrans use technology created by Dr. Beckham to fight the UEF and the Aeon in order to free all

Cybrans under the loyalty program. Thus, this causes the Infinite War which has lasted over 1000 years.

Supreme Commander is a game where many units can be controlled on a huge battlefield. There are mobile and immobile

units in this game. The game starts out with the selection of one’s faction; every faction has different units to be used. A

commander, the machine with a driver in it used to create and build units, is sent to a particular battle field through a quantum

transporter. From there, it uses special beams to create units using mass and energy which can be gained from building mass

generators and energy generators. Without the generators, it is a million times harder to create a unit in a certain amount of time.

Factories are the main thing in the beginning of a game. They are used to create mobile units. Commanders can only

created immobile units that can only attack, defend, or produce. There are three levels of technology in this game; Tech one, Tech

two, and Tech three are the main levels and is more advance when going up. Factories can create engineers that can build more

units than the commander. There are three types of factories; Air factories, land factories, and sea factories are used to create

units for their designated environment.

Tech one units are always the starters in all games. They are weak and have hardly any real power unless they’re in a

group attacking all at once. If one UEF tank was attacking an enemy commander, it wouldn’t survive even one second, but if thirty

tanks were attacking, it would be a different story with the defeat of the other team possibly. To sum it up, tech one units are only

useful in a group.

Tech two units are a bit more useful because of the advancement in the technology used. Shield generators can be used

to protect areas from enemy attacks, artillery cannons can annihilate an enemy from long range, and more efficient power

generators can be built in order to build more of the goodies, the units.

I personally don’t prefer the units at Tech one or Tech two levels because they’re weak and worthless later on. Tech

three units are the whole concept of the game the more one gets into it. Loyalists, a Cybran unit, have high hit points, destroy

incoming tactical missiles, and stun all enemies close to it when it is destroyed. SAM missile launchers shoot around twenty missiles

in a second at any enemy air unit to quickly eliminate it.

Dukes, an UEF unit, are artillery weapons that can shoot any spot on the battlefield with a huge explosion wherever the shot lands.

Experimental units are labeled as the most dangerous units in the game because they create the most destruction on the

battlefield other than the nukes. Colossus, an Aeon unit, crushes any enemy unit in its path and instantly destroys it while using a

huge laser beam to incinerate all units to dust. Mavor, an UEF unit, rapidly shoots artillery shells at the enemy so they won’t

recover fast enough and will be destroyed in seconds.

The main goal of the player is to either destroy the commander of the opponent or destroy every single thing that the

enemy has created in order to win the game. Players of Supreme Commander usually play on the battle net, a internet program that

brings all players of Supreme Commander to one server to play games with one another. Your opponent could be from the USA,

Canada, Mexico, or even countries such as England, Poland, Syria, and Japan. It’s like creating pen pals through playing a game

online.

Supreme Commander is an interesting game with many features in it. There are so many features to the point where one

can forget a few. From explosion to another explosion, this game can be only described as violent. But don’t worry, it’s rated E so

it’s safe to let a toddler play. I suggest all Star craft fans to try this game themselves.
