School hours should be lengthened mainly because more people will be able to become more successful in life, longer breaks will allow students and teachers to refresh in between classes, more school programs would be available, and our society and community will be blessed with intelligent people.

With more class time, students will have a better chance in entering college and becoming more successful in their careers. Without education, people will gain less pay or no pay at all. For example, a high school dropout may be working at McDonald’s and getting less than minimum wage, but someone who has a doctor’s degree will be getting about over a hundred thousand dollars a year. More time in class will allow individual help for students who are falling behind in class. Therefore, students will gain better test scores due to their better understandings of materials and will not be forced by school laws to take summer school.

Longer breaks will give students and teachers rest and recuperation. Students will improve in relaxation and will absorb knowledge better. Students will be able to communicate with friends and meet other people during breaks which will teach them socialization skills. This can give teachers more time to create more fulfilling lesson plans, which then gives students a higher education potential. Relaxed teachers are more likely to motivate and inspire teenagers or children making them better students.

More school programs will allow students to be better rounded for the “outside” world. These extra curricular activities will enrich each students mind and give them a good look for their collage transcript. These programs will keep students busy, and isolate themselves away from drugs or other crimes such as murder or stealing. Usually these programs may be accounted only for sports, but it can also address an extra leaning course such as the SAT preparation, or the high school exiting exam preparation.

With more educated people in our world, our lives will be more advanced. There would be more enhanced doctors and scientists that will be able to find cures for more diseases such as AIDS and cancer. Also, scientists will be able to create more efficient transportation and communicational devices, for instance BART and the cell phone. With more intelligent people, we may also be able to create an improved democracy which can help us for war, financial resources, or economical purposes.

Overall, by lengthening school hours, our lives will be enriched, and it will be beneficial for everyone in our society. Many people will have a better education and there would be less homeless people. Everyone globally will be more responsible and dependable.
