My dog's name is Meme Huey. In our family tradition, everyone's name- human or animal- has the initials, M.H. She is a six month old Shih Tzu who weighs 12 pounds. While sitting on her hind legs, she is about fifteen inches tall. Meme's has very short brown and white fur. Her dominant trait is her friendly characteristics. She enjoys the company of people, but we are still not sure about her attitude towards other animals. When she was younger, she bit everything that came into sight. It could have been electrical cords, the rug, or clothes. She had a difficult time being potty trained. Our living room carpet began to smell quite awful. However, she is still young and growing, and she is an important member of our family.

Meme actually replaces our last family pet that died of old age. My older brother, Michael, was our main reason of getting a dog. Not only did my brother want a dog to have fun and play with, but everyone in our family had a dog. This also contributed to the reason of getting a dog. We would have gotten a dog much earlier, but we had two main setbacks, the hardwork and the fact that my dad was allergic to any kind of fur. My mom then dicovered dogs that did have fur, but hair. So, then we found a Shih Tzu breeder and bought our new dog for a moderate price.

Meme has lots of things she enjoys doing each and everyday. When she wakes everyday, she communicates to us that she has to take her morning bathroom break by barking at the door. Then she usually likes to play fetch with her toys such as her singing dog which does not sing any more because Meme broke it, her orange bird, and her squeaky dog that is shaped like a hot dog. After throwing her toys twenty to thirty times, she takes a long nice nap for about two hours. Then my brother takes her out for a walk up our neighborhood hill. She eats when ever she wakes up and drinks after running or walking. Overall, Meme's day is always filled up unless we have to go somewhere, then she gets locked up in the bathroom.

Meme also knows how to do many tricks. I think her favorite trick is sit because everytime i bring her reward treat, she already starts to sit down before i tell her to. Then, she will automatically start to bring her paw up before I say shake. It's funny because she always remembers the order of the tricks we ask her to do. One trick she hasn't remembered yet is lie down. Although she knows it, she will not do it until we ask her to. Two tricks that she is still learning are roll over and crawl. Even though Meme has learned a lot of tricks we still try to teach her more and refresh her mind over and over again her old ones.

Meme is an important part of our family and we enjoy having her around. Meme has been a good dog so far and I cannot wait to teach her new things and have even more fun with her.
