This is an ethnographic study of how parents of single race children view interracial marriages and children, as well as the experiences of actual interracially married parents. This research project explores families’ reactions to interracial marriages. In particular, I plan to explore how the inter-racially married parent’s dealt with all kinds of full-on racism, from both outside and inside the family. I gathered stories of parenthood from those who were just becoming inter-racial parents for the first time. The people selected for this research are parents of my friends and employees at the Survey Research center in Berkeley.
