Hi everyone! I'm so sorry for being a bother and everything but can someone please give directions to how to post my site through Yahoo? The lecture in class helped but when I tried, it didn't work, only my home page was posted and it doesn't work unless my floppy's in the drive... Someone PLEASE HELP!

Don't apologise- asking for help is what this forum is for. So after you have an account with (yahoo) Geocities, log in. Then click on "Easy Upload" and click on browse to find a file to put on the internet. You will need to upload all the HTML files, images, and anything else that is a part of your website. After you have selected five files (by clicking browse, and then selecting your files) click on "Upload Files." After it is finished uploading it will take you to a screen where you can upload more files, or go to the File Manager. Make sure you have uploaded ALL your files and then proceed to the file manager. There you will be able to view all the files that you have uploaded, and the URL for your webpages. If you upload an HTML file, the URL will be something like this:

http://www.geocities.com/username/website.html

However, to make your home page the default page for the site, rename it index.html. In other words, rename website.html to index.html and you will be able to simply type in:

http://www.geocities.com/username

and it will take you to index.html by default. Does that help?

Thank You, this has been much help, however, I have uploaded all my files but nothing will load unless my floppy is in the drive. I tried clicking my URL several times but without the disk, it continues making this horrible noise and nothing happens, other than the alerts I had. Is this supposed to happen or did I leave something out while I tried loading? This occurred to all my pages, by the way...

Tenryuu, it sounds like on your HTML files you are linking to the A: drive. In other words, your webpages are linking specifically to the disk drive instead of to another file in the same directory. Check the links and see if they say something like a:\mystuff\page2.html and simplify them to page.html. Does that make sense?

Thank You for your help and I really appreciate it, but unfortunately that is not the case. They don't appear as you say, as in starting with 'a:\' this is what appears for what I posted for my index page: http://www.geocities.com/tenryuu_no_kage/index.html
etc, etc... I assumed this was what is supposed to happen but I am no longer sure... I tried simplifying the names but it didn't seem to make a difference, I hope there is still some other way I can check to see how screwed up my site so that I can fix it. Thanks for your help.

Never mind, please ignore the message above, now I have managed to unearth another problem, being in which my page can now load except for the pictures where instead a small red 'x' appear in the upper left hand corner. Please help, I do not wish for my page to look like a jail cell to invisible people with blocks of text...

Lisa: I looked at the site and it appears to be working- is everything copesetic now? IM me on AOL <bandaje> or fellow ATDP instructor Lloyd Nebres <lloydinberkeley> (tell him you're in 2530 and need help) if you can't get it straight as they are due tomorrow!

Andrew: No, you are not required to put your site online, but you should.
